Meet Jeff

Jeff Landry created jobs as a small business owner, served our nation in uniform and is a conservative leader who cares deeply about the future of Louisiana and our nation.

Jeff co-founded a small business which supported the oil and gas industry for many years and now, as a Loyola Law graduate, spends his days helping job creators in south Louisiana.

As a former aide in the State Senate, Jeff learned firsthand that many solutions to our problems can be found from listening to the voices of the people, not just from listening to the debate of politicians.

Jeff is a veteran of Desert Storm and left the military with the rank of Sergeant. He received the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, a National Defense Ribbon, an Overseas Training Ribbon and the Louisiana War Cross from his eleven years of service as a member of the Louisiana National Guard.

Jeff has a background fighting crime in law enforcement.   He served as a Sheriff’s Deputy in St. Martin Parish and as a Police Officer in the Village of Parks.

He worked for the St. Martin Economic Development Authority learning to leverage local resources to create jobs.  Born and raised in South Louisiana, Jeff also worked in Louisiana’s sugar cane fields just out of high school.

Jeff loves the outdoors. As an avid hunter and fisherman he cherishes the rich heritage that Louisiana provides for those that enjoy the outdoors.

He is a member of the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, National Environmental Professionals, World Billfish Foundation, Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and the Iberia Parish Republican Executive Committee.

Jeff Landry FamilyJeff, along with his family, participated in Louisiana Tea Party taxpayer rallies and he served as a Delegate to the Republican State Convention and served on the Party’s Platform Committee where he helped write the Party’s conservative platform.

Jeff holds a Juris Doctor of Law degree from Loyola University and a B.S. degree in Environmental and Sustainable Resources with a minor degree in Biology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.

At voting age, having grown up in a community with friends who are Democrats, he registered in the Republican Party because as a conservative he agreed with the philosophy of Ronald Reagan.

Seeing no other Republican step forward, he offered to run for a State Senate seat in a nearly three-to-one Democrat district that had never elected a new Republican for a first term. Like many of our current elected officials, including our Governor, he came up just short in his first race for elective office. However, he surprised political observers coming in first for the open primary and going on to gain 49.03% of the vote against a Democrat who had been in state and local office for almost twenty years.

Jeff is the son of Edna, a school teacher at Trinity Catholic School, and Al Landry, a small business owner architect, in St. Martinville. He is the son-in-law of Tommy and Mary Carol LeBlanc, owners of a successful tool business in New Iberia.

Jeff and his wife Sharon are raising their son in New Iberia.
